Alpha Gamma Delta
iota chapterAlpha Gamma Delta (ΑΓΔ) (Alpha Gam) is an adventurous, fun-loving women’s fraternity at the University of Washington that is guided by our motto of “Loving, Leading, Lasting.” Founded first at Syracuse University on May 30, 1904, Alpha Gam has grown to 199 international chapters that have created a sisterhood and support system for life. Our colors are red, buff, and green, and our mascot is the squirrel. We proudly support our national philanthropy, Fighting Hunger, through both fundraising and hands-on volunteering, as this is a cause that we hold very close to us. At the Iota chapter, we are full of inspiring young women who love to be involved, explore, and be our authentic selves.

Alpha Gam’s largest and most anticipated philanthropy event is Mr. Greek, a week-long competition between fraternities in the UW Greek community that brings community members together to raise funds and awareness for our philanthropic focus of Fighting Hunger while competing for the title of “Mr. Greek.” In the weeks leading up to the event, contestants work closely with Alpha Gamma Delta sisters to prepare for the competition and encourage their chapters to participate in the week’s fundraising activities. Throughout the week, the fraternities compete in several events that contribute points to the final title, including a waffle feed, a sports tournament, a skit night, and the Mr. Greek Pageant, where contestants perform a choreographed group dance and an individual talent. All in all, this is an event our chapter loves to throw and looks forward to doing every year! We also do hands-on volunteering with local community partners, such as Treehouse for Kids and Teen Feed.
Our chapter is rooted in sisterhood and support for one another, which shows up in many ways. We have sisterhoods, formals, grab-a-dates, and other events where we take time together to grow and have fun. Our members are women who love to lead, be involved, and take the time to support each other.
