Kappa Kappa Gamma

Beta Pi chapter

Kappa Kappa Gamma (ΚΚΓ) was founded at the University of Washington in 1905 by women who emphasized the necessity of education, friendship, personal growth, and leadership. The women who currently wear the golden key continually uphold the founders' intentions, as we currently have over 120 active members determined to contribute positively to the chapter and the community at large.

The Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG), often called Kappa, chapter at the University of Washington is a sisterhood built on connection, confidence, and personal growth. Grounded in strong values and a supportive community, Kappa encourages its members to dream boldly, lead with purpose, and fully embrace their college experience while building meaningful, lifelong relationships.

Kappa Kappa Gamma was nationally founded on October 13, 1870, and established at UW in 1905, making it one of the earliest sororities on campus. Represented by its dark blue and light blue colors and the iris as its official flower, Kappa carries a sense of tradition and elegance. Its motto, “Dream Boldly. Live Fully.” reflects the chapter’s commitment to empowering women to pursue their ambitions with confidence and intention.

Kappa Kappa Gamma fosters a close-knit and uplifting sisterhood where members are encouraged to be authentic, supportive, and driven. The chapter prioritizes strong friendships, personal development, and a sense of belonging, creating an environment where women can grow into confident leaders. Through shared experiences, mentorship, and community, Kappa builds connections that extend far beyond college.

Members of Kappa are actively involved across the UW campus, participating in student organizations, leadership roles, and academic initiatives. The chapter emphasizes well-rounded involvement, encouraging women to explore their passions while developing skills that will support their future careers and goals. Leadership opportunities within the chapter further allow members to gain valuable experience in collaboration, organization, and community engagement.

Kappa Kappa Gamma is dedicated to supporting mental health and well-being, promoting awareness, education, and advocacy around an issue that impacts individuals and communities alike. The chapter also partners with organizations such as the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation, contributing to efforts that support research, patient care, and community outreach. Through these philanthropic initiatives, Kappa members work to create a meaningful and lasting impact both locally and beyond.

Kappa Kappa Gamma offers a lifelong network of support that continues well after graduation. Alumnae remain connected through shared values, friendships, and professional networks, carrying forward the principles of confidence, leadership, and authenticity. Through this enduring sisterhood, Kappa women continue to uplift and inspire one another throughout every stage of life.
